About the Photographer

I’m Sam Thigpen, a professional photographer born and raised in Florence, AL. I was gifted a camera at 8 years old and fell in love. I made countless short films with my friends growing up. Senior year of high school, I decided to pursue a career in art. After high school, I enrolled at The University of North Alabama in the Cinematic Arts program. While earning my degree, I worked as the corporate photographer at E.S. Robbins in Muscle Shoals, AL. I graduated with a B.S. in Communications Cinematic Arts in 2020. In the summer of 2021, I returned to my alma mater and accepted my current position of University Photographer and Videographer in Enrollment Marketing and Digital Communications. I handle all creation of photographic content like event coverage, commercials, social media images and videos, historical events, and admissions pieces for online and print marketing. Outside of the university, I pick up freelance jobs and experiment with different formats and techniques.
